Artist in Residence

In an ideal world, every taiko player would have the opportunity to study with LOTS of different teachers to get a variety of perspectives on the art and practice of taiko. This often involves a lot of logistical challenges and taiko people are busy folx! So here at Mark H Taiko, one of our goals is to bring those amazing teachers here to the East Coast and take care of some of those logistical challenges for you!

Sometimes that means a special workshop (like a Miyake workshop with the Tsumura family, or a master class with PJ and Roy Hirabayashi).

And sometimes that means bringing a taiko artist into the DC area for a series of workshops or a taiko “intensive,” so that taiko players in the area are able to spend a little extra time learning and getting to know some of the awesome innovators of modern kumidaiko. These are our Mark H Taiko Artists in Residence!
