Now in its tenth year!

We can’t quite believe it … but our signature annual event, the Sakura Taiko Fest, is celebrating its TENTH ANNIVERSARY this year!

This event has grown from a small concert first held in a dance studio to a full day of free, family-friendly taiko performances in downtown DC. Each year, we welcome a number of North American taiko groups and feature a variety of different taiko styles as a celebration of Japanese-American cultural and artistic traditions.

Join us Saturday, March 30, 2024 (rain date: Sunday, March 31) to enjoy a full day of awesome drumming at the amazing Sylvan Theater, located on the grounds of the Washington Monument.

We’ve got a great lineup of performing groups this year and we can’t wait for you to join us!

Saturday, May 13 @ 8:00pm!

Can you believe we started our awesome Meet the Artist series EIGHT years ago? (It’s true! Our first one was in 2015!) In these informal, fun performances, taiko artists play some of their favorite pieces, share works-in-progress, discuss their influences, answer audience questions, and much more.

Can you believe that in all that time, with all of the world-renowned taiko artists we’ve hosted, we have never featured our very own Mark H Rooney? Well, the good news is … that’s about to change!

See you in-person or online!

Please join us for this special concert, presented by our friends at School of Musical Traditions and Institute of Musical Traditions.

For our fans in the DC area, a limited number of in-person tickets are available for the show ($20 each). And anyone and everyone is welcome to join us via livestream ($10 suggested donation).
