Fall 2014 preview!

Mark H Taiko has an amazing fall 2014 season coming up!

The fun includes

  • a performance by Miyako Taiko, the new community group that is part of the Mark H Taiko School, at the Greenbelt Rhythm and Drum Festival on September 27
  • the next Introductory Taiko Workshop on October 5
  • a new session of the Adult Recreational Taiko Class beginning on October 12
  • the return of Ryo Shimamoto to the USA for an East Coast taiko workshop tour from October 17 – 28
  • an awesome concert featuring Ryo and Kizuna in Takoma Park on Friday, October 24 at 7:30pm.

There will be LOTS more info posted here about these events in the days to come, including details for all of Ryo’s open workshops, but to be sure you don’t miss out on any of the taiko action, here’s what you can do now:

  • sign up for the next Intro Workshop and Rec Class by contacting the House of Musical Traditions
  • buy your tickets for the Way of the Dragon concert by contacting the Institute of Musical Traditions

It’s Memorial Day weekend, which means lots of summer fun in the months ahead! Start your summer with taiko: join Mark H for two exciting performances this week on May 30 and 31!

 

On Friday, May 30, Mark H wraps up a month of exciting Asian Pacific and Pacific Islander Heritage events with a performance at the Fort Meade Pavilion.

Saturday, May 31 brings the 34th Annual Washington Folk Festival in Glen Echo Park. Kizuna and the Mark H Taiko School will be performing at noon.

2014 Sakura Taiko Fest

Join the Mark H Rooney Taiko School and their special guests for the 2nd Annual Sakura Taiko Fest!

This fun and family-friendly evening of taiko is the perfect way to wrap up this year’s Cherry Blossom Festivities.

WHEN: Sunday, April 13, 6:30 – 8:00 pm
WHERE: Dance Exchange, 7117 Maple Ave, Takoma Park, MD (just a short walk from the Takoma Metro Station)
ADMISSION: FREE, but donations accepted at the door to support DC Area taiko

Audience seating is in a dance studio. Please wear shoes that can be easily removed before the performance.
