CONNECT 2020 will take place at The Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center at the University of Maryland in College Park, about 10 miles outside Washington, DC. There are lots of ways to get to the campus!
How to get to the Clarice
(planes, trains, & automobiles)
By car
The DC area has a lot of awesome things to offer. Alas, our traffic is not one of those things, especially around rush hour! Here are some suggested routes, but it’s good to have Google Maps or Waze along for the ride!
From Baltimore and points north, via I-95 South
- Take I-95 South to the Capital Beltway East (I-495)
- I-95 South will merge to the left, joining I-495
- Take Exit 23 “201 Kenilworth Avenue Bladensburg Greenbelt”
- Proceed south on 201 in the direction of “Greenbelt Road and Bladensburg”
- At second light, turn right onto Campus Drive
- Proceed approximately two miles to U.S. Route 1
- Turn left onto U.S. Route 1
- Follow signs to turn right into Visitor Center parking area [stay tuned for updated info about the best place to park on campus!]
From Virginia and points south, via Maryland side of Capital Beltway (I-495)
Recommended:
- Take I-95 North to the Capital Beltway (I-495)
- Follow I-95/I-495 North toward Baltimore
- Take Exit 23 “201 Kenilworth Avenue Bladensburg Greenbelt”
- Proceed south on 201 in the direction of “Greenbelt Road and Bladensburg”
- At third light, turn right onto Campus Drive
- Proceed approximately two miles to U.S. Route 1
- Turn left onto U.S. Route 1

Alternate:
- Take I-95 North to the Capital Beltway (I-495)
- Follow I-95/I-495 North toward Baltimore
- Take exit 25, “U.S. 1 South, College Park”
- Proceed approximately two miles on U.S. Route 1 South

From Washington, D.C. and points south or Baltimore and points north, via 295 (the Baltimore/Washington Parkway)
- Take 295 to its northern intersection with the Capital Beltway (I-95/I-495)
- Exit at I-95/I-495 North
- Stay in right lane
- Take Exit 23 “201 Kenilworth Avenue Bladensburg Greenbelt”
- Proceed south on 201 in the direction of “Greenbelt Road and Bladensburg”
- At third light, turn right onto Campus Drive
- Proceed approximately two miles to U.S. Route 1
- Turn left onto U.S. Route 1

By rail
Take Amtrak to DC’s Union Station. Then…
- Transfer to Metrorail system. Take the Red Line train (toward Glenmont); transfer at the Fort Totten station to the Green Line train (toward Greenbelt); get off at the College Park/U of MD station.
- Or take the Green Line train (toward Greenbelt); get off at the College Park/U of MD station.
- The university’s Shuttle-UM buses pick up university-bound passengers on the EAST side of the metrorail station. Shuttle-UM service between the College Park Station (Green line) and the center of campus is very frequent – every 8 minutes peak hours most weekdays – is offered year-round, and is open to everyone – no ID required.
- Get off the Shuttle-UM at the “M” (or second) stop for the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. Cross the street and walk south toward Mitchell Building. [stay tuned for more specific info about which stop will be closest to where our registration will be!]
By plane
You can to get to College Park via public transportation from the airports, but it does involve a few changes along the way.
From Reagan National
- Using Public Transportation
- Reagan National Metro (Yellow Line) to College Park Metro (Green Line) switch from Yellow Line to Green Line at L’Enfant Plaza $3.35 (less if not during rush hour)
- Super Shuttle Costs: $28.00 one-way
- Taxi: 15 miles / 25 kilometers. Approximately $30
From BWI
- Using Public Transportation
- B30 metrobus to Greenbelt Metro $3.10 cash, and exact change is needed (Green Line) then Greenbelt Metro to College Park Metro stop (only one stop) $3.00 (Smart Trip Fare). For information on the DC metro, please click here.

From Dulles
- Using Public Transportation
- Washington Flyer Bus to West Falls Church Metro $9 then West Falls Church Metro (Orange line) to College Park Metro (Green line)
switch from Orange Line to Green Line at L’Enfant Plaza $3.90 (less if not during rush hour) - Super Shuttle Costs: $39.00 one-way
- Taxi: 58 miles / 67 kilometers. Washington Flyer Taxi approximately $80
