CONNECT 2022 is all about the camaraderie and shared experience, so housing and meals are an important part of the conference!
Hotels and restaurants in the DC area aren’t cheap, and we don’t want you to waste a bunch of time sitting in traffic when you could be hanging with your fellow taiko players! So we’ve arranged meals and housing for you.
Housing
We’ve reserved a block of double and a handful of single rooms on campus at Denton Hall.
Denton Hall is located at the University of Maryland in College Park, about 10 miles outside Washington, DC. The address for those driving to Denton Hall:
3854 Stadium Dr., College Park, MD 20742

The dorms are just a short walk from where our workshops will be held. Each bedroom has a twin bed, bureau, desk, and chair for each participant, and linens are provided (pillow, pillowcase, sheets, blanket, towel). All rooms have shared bathroom facilities. Towels may be exchanged daily as needed and laundry facilities are available.
You’ll get an electronically-coded card and a key to access your room when you check in and there is a 24-hour hospitality desk that can help answer any of your questions.
All conference participants who plan to stay in on-campus accommodations must be at least 18 years of age.
Food
We know that the conversation about taiko won’t stop just because a workshop comes to an end!
Taiko people are some of the best people we know, and nothing makes us happier than to sit around and talk about taiko (and life in general!). So we’ve arranged for all our participants to eat lunch and dinner together on Saturday and Sunday.
(psssst – Sunday’s dinner will be a special reception at our Taiko Open Mic with lots of tasty food and drink, so you do NOT want to miss it!)

Don’t get lost! The address for Yahentamitsi Dining Hall is 4136 Stadium Dr., College Park, MD 20742.
“Yahentamitsi” (Yah-hen-tuh-meet-c) means “a place to go to eat” in the Algonquian language spoken by the Piscataway, who are indigenous to Maryland. This is the first UMD building to be named for Maryland’s Native American heritage and is about a 6 minute walk from Denton Hall.
Even if you’re registered as a commuter, the cost of those four meals is included in your registration. When you check in, you’ll get a meal card that will pay for your meals. And when it’s time to eat, just join the CONNECT crew as we walk over to the dining hall. And if you’re staying in the dorms, breakfast is also included. You don’t have to worry about anything!
We’ll also have plenty of snacks on hand for short breaks between workshops, but we do encourage you to bring any of your own preferred nibbles as well as a water bottle to refill while you’re at the conference.
