Sakura Taiko Fest 2022

March 26, 2022 @ 12:00 PM 5:00 PM EDT

Miyako Taiko performs at the 2019 Sakura Taiko Takeover at the Tidal Basin

Save the Date for our 8th Sakura Taiko Fest!

After a two-year COVID hiatus, the Sakura Taiko Fest is back! Join us in DC on March 26, 2022 for a full day of awesome drumming! We’ll have performances by Kyo Daiko, River City Taiko, Nen Daiko and Dounen Daiko, Miyako Taiko, MHTX, and students in the Mark H Taiko School so this is sure to be a spring event you do NOT want to miss!

The Sakura Taiko Fest has grown from a small concert first held in a dance studio to a full day of free, family-friendly taiko performances in downtown DC. Each year, we welcome a number of East Coast taiko groups and feature a variety of different taiko styles as a celebration of Japanese-American cultural and artistic traditions.

Be sure to follow Mark H Taiko and Miyako Taiko on your favorite social media so you can keep up-to-date with all the latest details!

The Sylvan Theater is located on the grounds of the Washington Monument, National Mall, in Washington, D.C. The closest Metro stop is Smithsonian station (blue/orange/silver lines) and we STRONGLY encourage everyone to take Metro! There will LOTS to see and do around the Mall and Tidal Basin on the day of Sakura Taiko Fest: the Blossom Kite Festival and Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon are both taking place AND it will be Peak Bloom. So expect loads of people and give yourself plenty of time to get there!
