Set Playing Fundamentals
You asked and we heard you … yes, it’s time for another session of Set Playing!
Traditional taiko is usually all about “one drum, one drummer” … but in contemporary kumidaiko, we like to mix it up! In the Mark H Taiko School, you’ll often see taiko players on sets of two or more drums – and if you’ve SEEN some awesome set playing, you’ve probably wanted to learn how to DO some awesome set playing yourself!
In this fundamentals class will focus on ambidexterity, bachi control, and other techniques like changing your grip. We’ll also work on fun drills and exercises that will not only help you when playing across two (or more!) taiko, but in ALL of your taiko playing.

You know how it goes … we get to the end of a class series and wish we could all just have ONE MORE CLASS together!
So yes, we’re once again EXPANDING our class series this fall to give you MORE time with the big drums! That means you get NINE class sessions, plus a celebratory Holiday Showcase (and of course a bit of practice time on that same day so we’re all ready to show off our skills). We can’t wait!
