The weather is warming up here in the nation’s capital and the spring rains are starting to melt our piles of snow. In DC, spring means cherry blossoms, and cherry blossoms mean lots of chances to experience taiko!
Those with little ones won’t want to miss Blossom’s Rainbow, a theatrical experience created for children ages 2-5 with original music composed and performed by Mark H. See the show now through the end of March at The Athenaeum in Alexandria, with more performances at the Atlas Performing Arts Center in early April as part of the National Cherry Blossom Festival. All the details are on Mark’s calendar.
If you haven’t yet seen “Reaction,” Mark H’s exciting collaboration with UpRooted Dance (or if you HAVE experienced its awesomeness and want to do so again!), don’t miss their performance at the Kennedy Center’s Millennium Stage: 6:00 pm on Thursday, April 9. The performance will also feature Kristen Koyama’s “Waiting for Spring.”
To round out Cherry Blossom season, Kizuna and Miyako Taiko will be performing at the Sakura Matsuri on Saturday, April 11 @5:30pm at the Pennsylvania Ave. stage, and the Mark H Taiko School will be hosting its 3rd Annual Sakura Taiko Fest at UMD College Park @2:30pm on April 18!
It’s going to be a great spring!
