About this Class
This 8-week intermediate class will help students explore, develop, and enjoy different kinds of taiko. Mark H uses guided feedback to help you understand the movement and mechanics of a given style. This class moves at a faster pace than the Rec Class and is appropriate for students looking to learn new techniques for the first time or for more established players who want to develop their form and taiko vocabulary.

BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND: OUR FALL 2023 STYLES CLASS WILL FOCUS ON ODAIKO!
Thanks to those recent amazing workshops with Otoha Asano, we’re all super excited about Odaiko these days! So if you are ready to up your Odaiko game this fall, read on!
Odaiko is a challenging style that defines a pursuit for many taiko players around the world. This powerful style demands stamina and body-mechanical awareness in a big way. We will focus on fundamentals like stance, strike and sound as well as build on endurance and control.
Prerequisite: Instructor’s permission needed – please ask Mark H if this class is a good fit for you BEFORE registering for this class series! At least 2 Rec Class series (or 1 year of taiko experience) and an introductory odaiko workshop (such as the All-Levels Odaiko Workshop recently taught by Otoha Asano) are a good starting point for this series, and you’ll also need a solid sense of timing and body awareness.
Bummer … This class is sold out!

Want to get on the waitlist? Contact Mark H and he’ll let you know if a spot opens up for you. Never fear … there’s always more great taiko around the corner. The next class series is coming soon!
This class is for ages 16 & up. Please see our registration and cancellation policies.
