Thanks to EVERYONE in Mark H Taiko for a great fall season … culminating in our awesome Fall Recital this past weekend (pssst if you missed the recital you can still check out the video)!
We know it’s gonna be a long wait til our next classes start up in late January (stay tuned – all the info on those will be posted in the next couple of weeks) … but never fear! You can still get your taiko fix with a couple of awesome workshops happening on December 11!

Chappa Workshop with Erika Ninoyu
Sunday, December 11 from 2 – 4 pm

Chappa are such a fun and dynamic instrument to add to your taiko toolbox … but we rarely get much more instruction in playing them correctly (other than “look festive!”). Whether you’ve always wanted to give chappa a try or you’ve had your own pair for awhile but still aren’t quiiiiiiite sure what to do with them, this workshop is for you! Featuring Erika Ninoyu, dynamic chappa player from Shidara and The Mark H Taiko Connection!

Bachi Maneuvers Workshop with Mark H
Sunday, December 11 from 5 – 8 pm

In this fun workshop, you’ll learn how to spin, throw and catch your bachi as a way to spice up your solo, performance or composition. Mark will teach both basic and advanced tricks, as well as exercises for how to practice them. He will also reveal the secrets to making simple tricks appear more impressive and the deeper universal philosophies behind these (seemingly) superfluous skills.
BOTH of these workshops are open to anyone who’s taken at least one series of our Rec Class or who has equivalent taiko experience. (If you’re brand new to taiko, we also have TWO Introductory Taiko Workshops coming up on December 4 and January 21, so we’ve got you covered too!)
See y’all on December 11! 🙂
